I was born in 1989 in eastern Ukraine, within a landscape that brings together the force of the steppe, with its varied landscape; the exhaustion of mining labour; and the processes of recovery that unfolded during the collapse of the Soviet Union and the economic crises of the 1990s. My practice, its subjects, forms, and trajectories of thought have been shaped by these particularities, while at the same time being profoundly reshaped by war, the occupation of my hometown since 2014, and the experience of loss following the destruction of my apartment in Kyiv Oblast in 2022.

I have a background in journalism, but alongside reporting, including writing essays on war and contemporary culture, I have worked in the field of culture for more than a decade. Among my major collaborations are the Izolyatsia Foundation and PinchukArtCentre in Ukraine; I have also developed projects with Ujazdowski Castle, Labirynt Gallery, and other institutions across Europe. In my institutional and independent projects, I move across contemporary art, literature, and cultural journalism, while also curating exhibitions and public programmes. Across these practices, I examine how war and violence enter language, images, landscapes, and material objects, and traces become forms of memory and testimony. I approach culture as a space in which answers are sought amid the everyday realities of war and its aftermath.

From January 2023, I worked for four years as Editor-in-Chief of Suspilne Kultura, the cultural desk of Ukraine’s public broadcaster, where I built a team and developed its editorial and cultural policies under wartime conditions, shaping its editorial direction and sustaining coverage of Ukrainian cultural life through years of full-scale war. I currently serve as Associate Editor there, while increasingly focusing on independent writing and exhibitions.

As a critic and curator I am currently developing what I call a Remains Theory, a major research project that turns towards the material culture of war, focusing on ruins, rubble, debris, and fragments, and on how these remnants shape the stories we tell about history and the memories we carry forward. In my work, I probe the relationships between bodies, objects, archives, agencies, memory, attending closely to the ethical and political weight of cultural and epistemological production, as well as to questions of justice in times of war.

As a writer, I am working on a collection of short fiction centred on older people living through war and their relationships with themselves and the environments around them..

Since 2025, I have been based in Lviv, Ukraine.
